Recently, there has been a lot of discussion once again about the topic of the point dance in ATEEZ’s “Say My Name”, with ATINYs as well as Wooyoung himself making their stance clear on how they feel about the plagiarism situation. With the accused plagiarizer gaining attention for being the choreographer for Jennie’s “Like Jennie”, Wooyoung wasn’t afraid to reject the possibility of doing the “Like Jennie” challenge and even once again did the “biting” gesture during a recent performance that earned massive support from ATEEZ’s fans. If you’re unfamiliar with the original situation, you can learn the details from this Reddit thread.

With the aggravating topic once again in the spotlight, now is a great time to revisit when ATEEZ’s members originally taught the “Say My Name” point dance themselves, as they were taught by their own choreographers like Anze Skrube! The video was released in January 2019, over six years ago — long before anyone else was doing the move and calling it their own.

The first part of the choreography that Yunho teaches in the video alongside Mingi and Seonghwa is the iconic “driving” move itself, breaking down each detail in the move so that it’s easy to follow along. If you haven’t already learned the dance yourself, we highly encourage you to do so — it’s a lot of fun, and we’re sure ATEEZ’s members would love for you to learn it from them!

Wooyoung teaches the next point dance, which is a move from the “Say My Name” prechorus. He’s both an informative and entertaining instructor, and San and Yeosang add to the amusing dynamic.

Finally, Mingi teaches the third point dance from the choreography with Hongjoong and Jongho. This is the most chaotic of the three, with Jongho acting stone-faced the entire time despite Mingi’s silly antics and until the end where he breaks into a goofy dance. Despite the amusing and somewhat distracting behavior, Mingi does a great job teaching the chorus dance move!

It’s a great look back into ATEEZ’s history, revisiting one of their most iconic dances in a way that puts the members and their talent in the spotlight while showing respect to the original choreographers.
