Even with the ongoing European leg of the Toward The Light tour, ATEEZ’s Captain has still made plenty of time to engage with the world of fashion. This past weekend, Hongjoong dropped the news with an Instagram story announcing his invitation to the Jacquemus Spring/Summer 2025 show, which took place on January 26. This announcement was just days after he and Seonghwa separately attended the collection unveiling of Paul Smith and Songzio respectively.

Further pursuing a long-standing interest in fashion, Hongjoong opted for a monochromatic, elegant yet masculine styling for the show, donning Jacquemus’ Marino jacket and pants along with the Scala polo shirt as a striking way to turn heads at the event. The only pop of color within the look came from the dark brown calfskin of the large Turismo bowling bag from the new ‘La Croisière’ collection, which while deviating from the all-black ensemble included just the slightest bit of color contrast to add intrigue. Additionally, the look balanced texture between the shearling jacket, crocodile-skin pattern of the shirt, and cotton pants in a way that allowed the eye to travel the whole length of the outfit instead of only focusing on the outermost layer. This was a change from his prior show, where his color palette, although still leaning monochromatic, offered more of a youthful grace versus the more refined and modern tailoring he was fitted with this time around.

Although a more contemporary brand to the mix of luxury fashion lines, Jacquemus has been a fierce contender in the couture world since its founding in 2009 by a then 20-year old Simon Porte Jacquemus. Following his mother passing away, he named the brand for his mother’s maiden name, as she was his first model, muse, and the biggest motivating push for him to pursue fashion design. His brand quickly grew, going from having close friends promote the designs during fashion events in 2010 to being asked to present his looks at the 2012 Paris Fashion Week. His designs trend towards a revitalization of classics, playing with textiles, stitching, and shapes to create looks that recontextualize couture fashion in a way that few others in the industry can do and brings a unique interpretation of trends as a predominantly self-taught designer.

The “La Croisière” collection for Jacquemus’s Spring/Summer 2025, hosted in a luxurious, yet intimate wood-panel Parisian apartment, blended the glamor found in the classic shapes of Hollywood’s golden age with the sophistication and refinement of French couture. The influence from both cultures were given a modern flair with experimental asymmetry, textures, fabrics, and even the exaggerated contours and shapes present in the new pieces. Per Jacquemus’s own philosophy, each of the looks debuting on the runway is to be available as ready-to-wear items in in-person stores as well as online, as he’s gone on record stating that he believes that each piece of his should be something that is available for the world at large rather than creating purely exclusive looks. 

The creative combination between Hongjoong and Jacquemus feels almost as if a mirror has been held up for each other. Both self-trained artists began their foray into the world of their passions at young ages, taking plenty of risks in the pursuit of their passions. As a result, I see the professional acknowledgement between the two as almost inevitable: a kind of gravity that you see between those who share a profound appreciation for the dedication in another who you see elements of yourself in.

While nothing has been announced yet, ATINY expect that more fashion show appearances could be in the future for ATEEZ members. With a cryptic “Soon” message left on a Dolce & Gabbana Instagram post, it’s hard not to imagine that this alludes to San’s attendance to their March womenswear fashion show. The schedules for Milan Fashion Week do also include brands such as Maison Margiela and Diesel slated for late-February, which are brands that members Yeosang and Mingi have sported in the past and would allow a spectacular debut fashion show for the two members. However, we will still have to wait to see if there will be any more reveals, either expected or not, regarding their coming schedules.
