With Hongjoong and Seonghwa gracing two shows at Paris Fashion Week, it’s safe to say that the MATZ duo have once again made an incredible impact on not just ATINY, but on the fashion world as a whole. The duo was able to make time on January 22 to separately attend the Paul Smith Fall 2025 and the SONGZIO Fall 2025 shows, even amid their ongoing European world tour.
Hongjoong was nothing short of debonair as he stepped out wearing Look 4 of Paul Smith’s Spring 2025 collection: a teal 2-piece suit paired with viridian button-up and mossy-toned, dotted tie. The piece was inspired from the 60’s fashion in Soho, showcased through the magnificent and cheeky way that Smith played with textures and patterns to create a balanced, professional whimsy tone. The semi-structured, double-breasted jacket helped to give the Balmain Prince a sleek, masculine fit when matched by his effortless confidence, clearly in his own element amongst the fashion elite. The combination of the classic fit of his suit combined with the stylish slicked back blonde hair and thin-framed glasses adds to the sophisticated, yet eye-catching visual.
Later on that day, Seonghwa made his appearance for the Songzio show in an outfit that, when framed with his gorgeous platinum hair, almost made him feel like a video game character. The all-leather look consisted of three separate looks from the Fall 2024 collection melded together, with the asymmetric jacket from Look 40, the wide-leg pants from Look 49, and the iconic mitter-inspired cut-up shirt plus the fur gloves from Look 42, which felt like the winning combination between the uniquely formless silhouette of the clothing mixed with the peek-a-boo of skin that you can glimpse at the right moments. The garments mesh well with each other, despite them not being a singular look. There was a chance that the layering of the articles would lose the intriguing elements amid the mass of fabric, yet there is still enough to be able to differentiate each article.
Both brands feel as if they partnered well with each of the men in terms of their own personal style. Seonghwa, being a fan of the avant-garde, genderless disregard for traditional fashion norms, feels a natural fit for the contemporary stylings offered by Songzio, having been making bold choices in the world of style since its founding in 1993. It allows a strong artistic interpretation of rebellious trends, exemplified by the collection Seonghwa’s outfit came from. The inspiration came from a painting of Prometheus, the Greek titan who gifted mankind with the gift of fire, a dissenting opinion among the pantheon that led to revelations and huge advancements within the world of man. The anomalous shapes within the clothes mirror this divergence from the status quo, and it’s this artistic representation in clothing that fits Seonghwa’s aesthetic, almost mirroring the solo stage in this current world tour where he’s stripped of his “wings”.

Likewise, Hongjoong working with Paul Smith also feels stylistically fated. Smith started his track into the fashion world as a laborer in his teens, having worked his way up from a warehouse job so that he could eventually take on a position as a tailor. He founded his eponymous brand in 1970 in Nottingham, England and since has eventually expanded to maintain a global presence in the fashion world. His works marry the traditional, every-day looks with playful and idiosyncratic colors, patterns, and fabrics, all of which lead to a youthful and ever-stylish look. This latest show allowed a peek into the muse behind most of Smith’s works: his father’s photography. Floral patterns and both bold and muted natural colors really help give a soft, sentimental, and somewhat vintage feel to the clothes in this most recent collection. It’s clear through the love and care that’s put into the unique look styling as well as how the pieces flow into each other, you can feel the adoration that Smith has for his father’s artistic lens.

Now that the Zurich show has completed, ATEEZ has a couple days before their next scheduled show in London. We’ll be looking forward to seeing what they do during their small break and even more excited to see more of their European tour.
