As we round out the final Friday of 2024, I had a moment when I debated who I wanted to look into for the newest article of Fit Fix. Naturally, each look in “Ice On My Teeth” is spectacular and, as a result, it comes down to a matter of intrigue. And while plenty of flashy stylings caught my attention between the militaristic and sleek look Seonghwa donned to the flamboyant Old Hollywood articles that Hongjoong effortlessly wore, the one that ultimately captured my intrigue was Wooyoung. Despite his complete look having not nearly as much coverage compared to the full-bodied shots of the other members, the detailed accents to his overcoat were able to perfectly call attention to the otherwise muted pieces for an understated and sophisticated air.

So imagine my shock when I found out through the Instagram user @TeezCouture that the overcoat was a luxury bathrobe.

The men of ATEEZ are certainly no strangers to breaking fashion norms, as we’ve seen through the years as they’ve cemented their place as one of the most influential groups in contemporary K-Pop. And as they’ve evolved into the trendsetters of the genre, so have they grown and cultivated their own unique fashion quirks and preferences as well as taken new and inventive decisions within their stylings. Wooyoung is no different and, in my opinion, is the member whose profoundly strong sense of self-identity had always come across in his fashion, even during their early years. He prioritizes authenticity throughout most of his public image, never letting himself be uncomfortable in his own skin that also comes across in his affinity towards streetwear styles, which evolved in the U.S. out of the mixing of the east coast hip-hop scene and surf culture present on the west coast. And seeing that mixture of Wooyoung’s personal influence and breaking typical fashion conventions by wearing a bathrobe not only outside of the typical home and pool settings bathrobes are usually used for, but in such a way that it seamlessly integrates with the look at large was cathartic to me.

As with each Fit Fix article, my guidelines are as follow:

  1. This is more about identifying the pieces of an outfit or costume and providing suggestions for items based on that and that alone. It’s neither an endorsement nor condemnation for brands, styles, or pieces.
  2. Your purchased outfit is just as valid as a thrifted or DIY outfit and vice versa, regardless of price.
  3. You’re obviously not obligated to dress up for any concert, including ATEEZ. You can come as you are and have just as much fun!

Now, let’s fix-in!

As we look at the overall look, we can break the style up into the following 5 categories: jacket, tank top, pants, boots, and jewelry. We would be working in more grayscale, with black being the primary shade being used with silver accessories. I noticed that the shades of black do all differ from one another, so care doesn’t really need to be taken between matching any of the articles which would simplify the matter entirely. Wooyoung is one of the three members within ATEEZ who frequently uses multiple intricate accessories and, as a result, the styling focuses on accentuating these pieces with either a striking color contrast to the understated black palette or creating negative space to give space for those accessories to stand out. This would be best exemplified by the patterning of the robe and the pendant respectively.

Now, naturally we can’t talk about this look without bringing up the robe itself. The exterior fabric is exclusively made with terry cotton, a staple of most towels to help in water absorption, the Versace logo very clearly embossed onto the subtly striped material in contrasting shades. Perhaps even more eye-catching is the decorative, baroque patterning at the sleeve cuffs, pockets, and on the belt. The pictures of the robe available on the Versace website do show the belt being tied, which adds an almost yukata or kimono-inspired look because of the use of a significantly thicker piece of fabric for the belt to create the illusion of a front-tying obi. However, this particular styling does differ from the way that it’s styled on Wooyoung. Instead, it’s allowed to drape down, adding a more dynamic look to the motions in the dance by using the untied belt to artificially create flowing elements when the rest of the outfit would have lacked movement otherwise.

Now there are a few ways that this look could be mimicked. Obviously, you could look into the authentic robe itself, which retails around $550 for the I Baroque robe on the official site and that most second-hand sellers are marking it for. That being said, Versace is one of the brands that is typically duped pretty consistently. I was able to find a pretty convincing visual dupe through DHGate for $150. While I can’t speak to the overall quality of the DHGate copy, I’d imagine it wouldn’t be off-putting enough to pass on a nearly 70% discount compared to the original. Naturally, if you’d prefer to go towards something that gives off similar vibes without having Versace printed all over your clothing, you can also do a double purchase of the Anka Exclusive bathrobe available through Creative Homes and the House of Mars NYC Reversable Pocket Obi Belt. This combination still gives the same general appearance created by the Versace robe, but with the robe costing about $136 and the separate belt being about $60.

Now, thankfully the tank top is probably the easiest item to really come by. While the exact shirt is likely more expensive than I think any of us want to guess, there are plenty of ways that you can come by the article. Some retailers, including in-person outlet stores like Costco, Target, or Wal-Mart are going to carry both individual tank tops or even packs of them depending on location. Generally, you’ll want to prioritize those that offer a scoop-neck, which will allow the visual space to show off the necklace you’ll be wearing for the look. Many of the packs will likely be men’s athletic fit, so any femme-bodied person may also want to consider a sports bra or bandeau in the event that it has more of a muscle-tank fit. Additionally, I didn’t notice any ribbing in the fabric, which would result in narrow lines running vertically down the clothes. Instead, the actual detailing is much more intricate, with very fine embroidery work that’s almost indistinguishable from a distance. Given that this detailing is easy to miss on a first pass of the look, I’d imagine that you wouldn’t need to put too much importance into it, as other elements of the outfit will be more center-stage. For inspiration, you could look into the Everlane Air Cami that costs about $30 or the COOFANDY 3-pack Quick Dry Workout Tank Top that runs $29.99 via Amazon.

Probably the next most eye-grabbing aspect to this styling is the jewelry. The main centerpiece of the look would be the Versace vintage logo necklace, which consists of a silver plaque pendant on a matching, somewhat delicate chain. The authentic pendant retails between $190 to $300 depending on where you buy it. However, the shape of the necklace isn’t one that I’d call particularly rare, as we’re just looking to get the landscape plaque. Plenty of similar designs exist, including the Reidgaller Rectangle Cabochon Stainless Necklace that would run just under $12 through Amazon.

The other jewelry pieces are from the brand Chrome Hearts, which Wooyoung has worn on many occasions prior to match with his more grunge-inspired streetwear looks. While authentic pieces run about as much as a month’s rent depending on the size and detailing of the jewelry, you can get similar results by ordering multi-piece gothic rings set through wholesale sites to help save on charges. While a bulk set does mean that you will have plenty of leftovers that you may opt out of for the look, it will generally run between $15 – $25 depending on the number of rings you’d be purchasing in the single order and what vendor you go through. However, if you’d prefer to purchase them individually there are a significant number of decent quality dupes that help get the chunkier, gothic feel that Chrome Hearts has become synonymous with. The pair of drop earrings can be done in a similar manner, though there are also Etsy jewelers such as user luvchainz who do create handmade silver jewelry including their Chrome Cross Gothic earrings. You could save to commission two of these pieces for about $35 per order, however it appears that the earrings Wooyoung sports are different designs. You can absolutely mix and match ideas if you have multiple lobe piercings, though it’s important to keep the drop of the jewelry in mind to help create a smooth transition from the first to second set of earrings for a more polished look.

Regarding the rest of the look, you have a bit more freedom in terms of the general options. The shoes and pants have a glossier finish than that of the shirt and, as a result, can be a bit trickier to find something that fits the appearance that we see in the 20241123 stage that each member wore their MV outfit for. Based on the sheen of the pants, it’s very probable that Wooyoung was styled with black, silk pants, as the soft fibers of the material can give it a glossy shimmer under lighting. Silk has always been seen as a highly valuable material due to the highest grades of fabric being made almost exclusively through the labor-intensive harvesting of caterpillar and moth chrysalis. Depending on continent and region, different cultures have different insects that they historically gathered silk through, from the caterpillar nests in Central America that created silks used by the Aztec Empire to the mulberry silkworms most commonly associated with silk production in China, Southern Asian, and Europe. Because it takes both time and considerable skill to harvest longer fibers, the price to make materials with them is more than most other natural fibers. However, there are alternative materials to help get the same look for a fraction of the price with the creation of satin. While satin was originally created with silk fibers, it’s usually done with more inexpensive synthetic materials like rayon or polyester to help reduce cost while still achieving the same finish when observed. In a similar fashion, you can look at more of a satiny finish for the pants to create the same general finish. Examples of this would be the ASOS Design straight leg suit pants, which offer a similar shine in light while totaling $49.99. Alternatively, for a bit more of a splurge you can go towards the Gale Satin Mid-Rise Bias Pant from Reformation, a sustainable brand I’ve mentioned in prior articles that works towards 100% recycled material to prevent growing waste in the textile industry. It’s not going to be in everyone’s budget at $198 for the pants, but I do encourage those who can to help support the brand with their mission of improving industry standards in materials, production practices, and recycling.

The shoes are something that I don’t think you’d need to worry too much on, especially since most of the attention-grabbing portions will be away from the feet to begin with. However, the boot style that you may want to gravitate towards would be that of a slightly higher-heeled ankle boot. Without seeing the top portion in better clarity than some of the fancams I referenced, it’s hard to determine if these would be closer to a traditional ankle boot or more akin to a Chelsea boot. However, the lack of elastic side panels that I can make out leads me to lean more towards the former option. That being said, the overall finish would be glossier when compared to the tank top without being quite as sheen-heavy as the pants. You could reference either the Dolce Vita Bryson Bootie that retails about $89.99 through DSW or, for a bit more of a bargain, something like the leather ankle boots offered through DHGate for $41.58 before shipping costs.

Wooyoung’s stylings have always been fascinating to me and may be one of the reasons that he frequently catches my eye in just about any event that ATEEZ appears for. While the streetwear aesthetic is a frequent and visible inspiration behind his clothing, the overall understated components that typically accompany it also belies the intricate and painstakingly detailed work that can go unnoticed and often unappreciated without taking the time to really examine it. And while I may be assigning meaning to a styling that he may not have had any last-say on, it at least shows that the stylists that ATEEZ have understand the men they are working with at a fundamental level. For Wooyoung especially, it’s fascinating to see him in clothes that show his unwavering desire to be comfortable as he is, as he’s always been an intensely honest person to a point that I think surprises fans to this day. And I believe that that display of honesty throughout the years is not only rewarding to himself, but it’s made it so he will always have support from his members, his family, his friends, and his fans. He truly is never alone and he will never be.

Like always, until next time ATINY!
