What can I say?: “Ice On My Teeth” has rapidly become my hyperfixation to finish off the year. And there hasn’t been a reason for it not to have left the minds of the public: Every song on the album carries its own unique tone while harmonizing wonderfully with one another in a way that really only ATEEZ has mastered. Thankfully, it’s ever-mounting success across the charts is helping bring ATEEZ into international awards season, even netting a nomination from the Billboard Music Awards retroactively for the 2023-released The World Ep.Fin: Will for “Top K-Pop Album” in addition to the same album’s Golden Disc Awards nomination, a Music Bank win for “Ice On My Teeth”, a MAMA award for “Global Artist”, and an ongoing vote for Billboard’s “Best Fanbase”.

And, like with each comeback, we have new ATINYs coming to our ranks, stunned by both the impressive musical deftness and versatility they model as well as the striking visuals they are known for bringing to each bit of content they give us. And who else is the usual usher for those being first introduced to ATEEZ than Choi San himself. Like his fellow members, he has demonstrated an enviable work-ethic between all areas of the idol realm. From singing to dancing, from chivalry to humor and a penchant for cute things, it’s hard not to become enamored with the pride of Namhae.

So I figured that this week, we could examine the clothes he wears for the “Ice On My Teeth” video with a few adjustments. As I’m sure all of us were made extremely aware of, San opts out of wearing a shirt in this MV to show off the work he’s put into his physique. While seeing the authentic outfit recreated, I’ve chosen to use the live stage version as the main inspiration for this week’s Fit Fix as a way for femme-bodied folks or those who may not have the San body to have alternate options. While I definitely think the look could be recreated rather well without an undershirt, that would be much better suited towards still-frame photos rather than attending live events. Granted, most of the options are going to be the same, but obviously without a button-up (and with a very-visible boxer brief waistband), so the choice is yours depending on whatever your event happens to be.

Otherwise, as with each Fit Fix article, my guidelines are as follow:

  1. This is more about identifying the pieces of an outfit or costume and providing suggestions for items based on that and that alone. It’s neither an endorsement nor condemnation for brands, styles, or pieces.
  2. Your purchased outfit is just as valid as a thrifted or DIY outfit and vice versa, regardless of price.
  3. You’re obviously not obligated to dress up for any concert, including ATEEZ. You can come as you are and have just as much fun!

Now, let’s fix-in!

In going for the stage outfit, we are needing to break down the individual components that make up the piece. Compared to some of the prior outfits, this one does require fewer subcategories that comprise the total look. I interpret this as a way to really accentuate San’s body with only a mid-length necklace to help draw attention to his chest, which is only present in the stage fit because it helps draw the eye towards his decolletage while the rest of his body is less exposed. That being said, we can narrow down the options to a long, heavy fur coat, white button-up, light-wash blue jeans, black boots, and a statement necklace. Granted, as stated before, you can opt out of the undershirt and necklace for instances that you are going for the full MV look, though it sort of trades out for boxer briefs if you’re wanting to be fully accurate.

The coat is likely going to be one of the pricier points across the look (potentially even more than a pair of D&G boxer briefs, depending on the retailer), as you would be needing something that falls about knee-length or mid-shin with long sleeves and an overall puffier look to the volume. Additionally, the tone falls onto the cooler spectrum of grey, ruling out more of the warm tones that can be present in a lot of fur coats. Fur, even faux fur, can be expensive because of the sheer bulk and difficulty when it comes to moulding it into the proper shape for the finished product. Even secondhand options are likely going to run you $70+, but generally are going to run pricier. For the options I was able to find, a few that seemed to lean into the longer, cooler tones were one from ASOS, another from Shein’s Slayr collection, and the RomanticDesign through Amazon’s storefront. The bulk of the faux fur on the ASOS Faux Fur Overcoat matches well to that of San’s coat, though it’s going to set you back the most at about $209. It’s also running low on inventory, so hard to say how long the product would be available. The RomanticDesign doesn’t quite have the same bulk, opting for a bit more of a sleek and elegant look than the heavier feel of the original. However, it’s a nicer midpoint in terms of price, costing about $95.99, though the pricing may change depending on the size that you’re needing, which I’m not really a fan of. As the final option, the Slayr Plus Size Winter Fashionable Fluffy Long Coat on Shein has a comparable look at a pretty reasonable $75.89. I did notice that technically there are two grey colors that are available for the coat, which confused me because one of them was clearly more of a bronze tone, but as long as you’re going towards the cooler-toned one you’ll be on the right track.

The jeans are both a bit easier to scope out for a general style, but hard to get exactly right. Most of the pictures that I’ve found of the outfit do have light manipulation in some way that masks the main tones, but it appears to be on the light-wash side of the denim colors. They seem to have a more relaxed fit in the thighs and more of a bootcut that adds extra room and provides a further improvised bulk to help fill out the overall look. Quite honestly, this style and coloring is almost certainly going to be available through thrifting, though it may take time depending on the size you may need for it. However, something similar to the Easy Rider Boot Premium Coolmax Stretch 430 style jeans from Levi’s would be something to look into. Those particular jeans would cost about $129, though there may be discounts to either that pair or other ones that you may be able to scope out elsewhere. The belt is also something that I think you can find suitable, inexpensive options for. The Men’s Tonal Stitched Edge Dress Belt that I found through Target’s online store was a great option to get the black and silver detailing for approximately $10, so definitely a steal.

Now, technically this part is optional if you’re wanting to go towards the shirtless MV look. You could run through to get two pairs of the D&G Cotton Jersey Boxers in black for $115 (no, I didn’t stutter; yes, I wish I did). That being said, there are plenty of circumstances where this might not be a viable option, so I’ve included the specifics for the shirt as well. Since white button-up shirts are a pretty common staple amongst many ATEEZ looks and I’ve covered a few options in previous Fit Fix articles, I won’t spend a ton of time on this one. However, it does appear to have a more fluid fabric type than a standard cotton button-up. This leads me to think that the material may be more of a silk or semi-satin fabric. If we’re going more towards this, you may find luck in the AQUA Satin Button Front Blouse available for about $68 on Bloomingdales’ website.

Similarly, the boots are not something I’ll be covering in a ton of detail. While there aren’t many pictures of the shoes that are high enough resolution for me to get more details on them, I believe they are a type of black, leathery ankle boot. There’s definitely a large market that you have on boots like this that will span a variety of prices. If you have the budget to lean more towards sustainable clothing, I’d look into Reformation as a brand. They have been incredibly vocal on their practices of sustainability and have almost 10 years of sustainability reports that have tracked their continued support of recycling and repurposing non-virgin materials to allow raw materials like cotton time to grow back. However, the products do come at a higher price to support this, with their Louie Stretch Sock Bootie costing around $378. However, like I said, boot styles like this are pretty readily available at lower prices. I was able to find a similar pair on ASOS with their Ranger Smart Mid-Heel Boots for $64.99, though I’m sure that there are other retailers and beyond that may be available at even cheaper prices.

The Dolce & Gabbana necklace that San sports on stage appears to be one that isn’t available through their main sales site (at least at the time of writing this), but the characteristics mean that we can find similar styles without dropping potentially several thousand dollars on jewelry. The chain itself is medium, maybe measuring around 16”-18” in length (approximately 40-45cm) and has a bejeweled, almost pendant portion. The pendant isn’t particularly far below the necklace chain, meaning it has a low drop distance that’s maybe around 2” (5.1cm). Based on these, I would recommend steering towards Etsy sellers that may be able to help make some gorgeous, custom pieces if you’re able to support those artists. I was able to find a few very ornate pieces from MoonMaidenJewelry on Etsy, including the pictured Jet Black Onyx Filigree Antique Silver Victorian Necklace (priced at $34.99) for reasonable prices that run between $25-$60 depending on the intricacy of the silver. There are simpler styles for less on Amazon and other competitors, though a slightly more expensive but still falling in the same parameters would be the Vintage 70s Filigree and Stone Necklace available through 86 Vintage retailing about $105.

Compared to some of the other looks within this specific MV, San’s is one of the easier ones to gather the main components for. With exceptions to the coat and necklace, most of these are pretty common fashion essentials that you may already have or would benefit you to have in the future for various other outfits. It really helps showcase the fact that these kinds of looks are equal parts having the right base and having the right accessories or piece of clothing that can act as a focal anchor to draw the most attention to in order to really elevate what could otherwise be an arguably plain styling.

As I said in the previous Yunho article, I’ve really been impressed with how the stylings of this comeback have managed to perfectly balance the more classic masculine looks across the years while having unique and interesting takes on the more traditional silhouettes, staple articles, and accessorization of even their own bodies. Honestly, it gives me a lot of joy to see each member progressing into their very own visual niche so effortlessly, especially when it comes with seeing San’s confidence in himself building, both with his own musculature and his sense of self within the extremely turbulent world of idols.

Like always, until next time ATINY!
